Hottest family holiday destinations – 2018
If you’re looking for a family holiday destination for summer 2018, you’ll want your kids to be entertained but you’ll also be looking for somewhere to relax. Or maybe you want to do adventurous things and not have to worry about having the kids in tow. Whatever your holiday style, we’ve put together a list of popular destinations for 2018.
The French Alps
If adventure is your family’s thing, you can visit the French Alps and get a taste of the great outdoors. Explore.co.uk offer holidays in Tignes le Lac; where you can do anything from hiking on a glacier and white water rafting, to simply relaxing by the pool and drinking in the views. A tour guide is on hand to help you plan your activities for your stay and you’ll be part of a group, so it’s a great option for single parents.
If budget is an issue this year, why not have yourselves a staycation? The UK boasts some beautiful coastlines and with the amazing weather we’ve been having, you’ll probably struggle to remember you aren’t abroad. Durdle Door Holiday Park in Dorset has a great family solution in the shape of wooden camping pods, which sleep four people. It’s dog-friendly too so you can bring your four-legged family members along! It’s only 200 metres from the beach, has the on-site Blue Crab Café Bar and a whole range of children’s’ activities in the holidays. Just bring your own bedding and camp in style!
Easily a favourite holiday destination every year, the Algarve has it all – short-haul flight, beautiful weather and scenery to take your breath away. There are plenty of family-friendly places you can stay at, including luxury options such as Conrad Algarve in Quinta do Lago, which has the “Little C” kids’ club to keep them entertained. There are also family surfing lessons, cookery lessons, fishing trips with all the equipment provided, three pools and a beach serviced by the hotel. Located just 20 minutes away from Faro airport, it’s not a bad choice for your next family vacay.
The south coast of Spain was a favourite holiday destination for my family, and we have many fond memories of trips to the Costa del Sol, Costa Brava and Costa de la Luz. Being in close proximity to Morocco, the weather down south is always gorgeous, but the sea breeze keeps things nice and cool. Ditch the hotel here and stay in a tent or caravan and make the most of the outdoors. We frequented Park Playa Bara in Costa Dorada and booked a tent with Canvas Holidays.
The Inca Trail and Machu Picchu are on most adults’ bucket lists but it’s also a great place to take your kids! The country of Peru is almost built like a playground and there’s an abundance of mountainous terrain and towering sand dunes to occupy your little ones and satisfy their exploring instincts. Peruvians are known for being warm and hospitable people and they love children, so it’ll make a great destination for your next family adventure. There’s also tons for you to enjoy – the Pisco region is famous for its wines and Pisco Sours and there are plenty of amazing food options to pair them with.
