We volunteered to take calls for Comic Relief

On Friday 24th March, over 120 employees volunteered their time to take donation calls from the public for Comic Relief.

Our Nottingham call centre was selected as one of 11 call centres across the country to take part and employees from across our UK sites signed up to get involved in this infamous event.

We had fantastic support from Nottingham Rugby Club and Marcellus Baz, who founded Switch Up in St Ann’s and was the winner of the BBC’s Sports Personality 2016 Unsung Hero Award. Marcellus tried out some sparring with some of our volunteers to keep the energy high.

“We had an absolutely fantastic night and I am so humbled by the number of people wanting to get involved” said Kirsty Peasley, Domestic & General head of communications and volunteer. “All of our volunteers did such an amazing job. We took over £22,000 in donations on the night. We hope to take part in future call taking for Comic Relief, it has been brilliant.”

The highest single donation taken at our call centre was an amazing £750 and the total raised on the night was more than £71 million. Well done to everyone who took part!
